Au revoir, little Feather

Sweet readers,
It's been one year since the Feather Report iPhone app launched, and a year and a half since this blog was born. We, the Feather Report girls, have *loved* styling you each and every day and solving your style conundrums. Without a doubt, you are the best readers. But, as with all good things, our dear Feather Report must come to an end.

The truth is, it takes Team Feather a lot of time to put together enough outfits for the blog and app every day... enough for everyone in the country, in fact!... and, well, that's a lot of work for just a few stylish gals. Just how many outfits are we talking? Well, to our count, we've designed roughly 2,200 outfits in the last year and a half. That's a lot of SHOES! And BAGS! You get the gist.

And so, we're saying goodbye to our sweet Feather Report. We will miss you tremendously, but we have a feeling we'll see you again... somehow, someway. If you have the iPhone app, you'll still be able to search for outfits, and you'll even see a look that matches your weather forecast every day—it just won't be a brand new look.

So, sweet peas, ta-ta for now. And the hugest, warmest hugs from me to my Feather Report girls: Jamie, Jenn, Lauren, and Jess. The Angels to my Charlie.

Most of all, thank YOU for your support, words of encouragement, and overall awesomeness since Feather Report first saw the light of day.

KISSES!

Feather Report on Blumarine

With Fashion Week still fresh in our minds, the Feather Report girls looked back to the Fall 2010 shows to pick our favorite right-now trends. And along the way a funny thing happened... a handful of looks from the 200-9 runways felt very much on-trend.

Case in point: this military-inspired look from Blumarine's Fall 2009 collection. It works today because it's an updated take on a classic.
Blumarine look

Add in an animal print bag and some no-joke stiletto boots, and you are 1000% good to go.

Black Baxter Skinny Jeans, $80, Topshop; 3.1 Phillip Lim Double-Breasted Cadet Jacket, $327.50 (Original price $655), theOutnet.com; Rick Owens Lilies Wool-Jersey Turtleneck Top, $290, Net-A-Porter; Oasis Roxy Leopard Chain Across Body Bag, $47.18, ASOS; Via Spiga Ethos Bootie, $225, Nordstrom; Catherine Weitzman Double Seahorse Ring, $110, Max & Chloe.

NYC: Mostly sunny and beautiful, high 75°

This outfit is a template for how to look chic without much effort. Rather than go blahsville with boot-cut jeans and a shapeless twinset, take things up a notch with a dolman-sleeve cardigan, detailed tank, cute skinnies, and a quilted bag. Bonus: all items are under $100!

Linen Dolman Cardigan, $10.99 (On sale from $22.80), Forever 21; On The Loose Top In Dawn, $32.99, ModCloth; Y-3 Zipped Slim-Leg Jeans, $91 (Original price $260), theOutnet.com; Quilted Lock Across Body Bag, $25.28, ASOS; Darrina Heel, $99.95, Steve Madden; Emily Elizabeth Jewelry Adam Ring, $70, Max & Chloe.

If your weather is...
Warmer: Lose the cardi {but stuff a scarf in your bag for chilly office A/C!}
Colder: Add a black bomber...fall is here!

NYC: Mostly cloudy with a shower or thunderstorm possible, high 78°

Leather shorts are on the top of everyone's fall fashion list this year. You can wear them like this {with a little bronzing lotion on those gams!} or with tights and ankle boots {for those who are a little more demure or rocking the trend in colder weather}. Work it, sisters.

Missoni Crochet-Knit Scarf*, $199.50 (Original price $570), theOutnet.com; Kain Silk And Jersey Draped T-Shirt, $105, Net-A-Porter; Marc By Marc Jacobs Dreamy Logo Linda Embossed Leather Clutch, $298, Nordstrom; Peach On The Beach Sandal*, $13 (On sale from $44.99), ModCloth; Leather Buckle Shorts, $135, Topshop.

*At press time, these two items were running low. Therefore, we've scooped up two super-cute alternatives, just in case. {Also, we really love saying "at press time".}:
